There can be so much to think about when buying a simple loaf of bread, and the brands which claim to be ‘natural’ are often far from it. But there is a way to make the safest and most nutritious decision- simply by choosing organic! When you buy organic bread you can be assured that you are getting a product which was grown without irradiation, synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, and repurposed run-off water. Organic products are also automatically non GMO, and typically come from smaller scale farms where farmers choose to plant native species which tend to be more nutritious and higher in antioxidants than conventional grains. Many people believe in the importance of purchasing organic produce, but do not necessarily carry that mindset over to the rest of their grocery list.
However, conventionally grown wheat and grains are simply not worth the risk. Most conventional varieties of wheat are contaminated with the herbicide glyphosate, which has been linked to cancer, as well as many other pesticides, chemicals, added sugars, artificial flavors, and genetically modified ingredients. A study done by The Organic Center discovered that on average organic breads contain twice as much nutrient-dense whole food ingredients compared to ‘natural’ breads and three times as much as conventional breads. Conventional breads are made with more preservative/additive ingredients and on average a whopping 28% of the ingredients are purely preservatives and/or additives. Not only is that unappetizing, but it is compromising nutrition and many times those preservatives and additives have unwanted side effects on your health.
Our fully sprouted Mighty Manna Breads are organic and made with 100% whole food ingredients! That means not only is our bread organic, but it is uniquely made with no added sugar, salts, yeast, flours, or oil. Some flavors even have three or less ingredients, such as our Carrot Raisin (fully organic wheat berries, carrots, and raisins) or our Whole Rye (fully sprouted rye berries). Manna Bread is made as food should be, from purely whole food ingredients, and is a decision that both your mind and body can be happy with!
